All Things Wedding: The Sequel

So I have been very busy, and haven't had a chance to post another entry in my blog until now, with the help of my loving fiancĂ©e, who is currently acting as my typist (Jeff:  Hi everyone!).

I finished the bridesmaids bouquets and the accompanying handles.

I think that they turned out quite lovely.  What do you think?

I have moved on to working on the corsages.

I am trying to decide between the two flower designs.  What do you think?  I really like the 'pointiness' of the dark purple, but the soft rounded edges of the lighter shade could also be appealing.  Either way, I'm having fun during this stressful time in most brides' lives.

I got these candlestick holder and this pedestal at a local craft store for $5 and I "Blinged them up" as my fiancee might say.  I'm really quite happy with them, and it was a fast project.  My next project after the corsages are finished will be the boutineers and the bridesmaids' outfits.  My mother in law to be who has a very giving spirit (one of her many admirable qualities) gave me a family heirloom to wear as my wedding band.

It is such an honor to be entrusted with something so precious.  She also gave me these salt and pepper shakers:

But the clever thing is that they are salt and pepper shakers.  The groom, who like my husband-to-be, is the salt shaker.  He LOVES salt and over-seasons everything, which makes me the pepper.  Hmm... What does that mean?  Jeff and I had actually contemplated using an actual, simple set of salt and pepper shakers as our cake topper, in the vein of Fireproof, the Kirk Cameron film, but instead I am thinking about using these little guys. I think they're cute.

I'll be posting more details of my ongoing adventure in wedding planning and creations soon.  Thank you all for your previous encouragement.  Happy crafting!

All Things Wedding

So I am getting married soon and I am a DIY bride. I have some really nice bridesmaids that are helping me in my quest for a wonderful wedding. My latest project is felt flower bouquets for me and my five bridesmaids.  I loved the felt flower bouquets that I was seeing online, and I thought, "Hey!  I can do that!"

So, I found some old buttons...

And added new ones...

And cut out TONS of flowers...

And coerced my friend Stephanie into giving me free slave labor... (To be fair, we had fun.  It's amazing how funny felt flowers can be at three in the morning)

And our two creative minds came up with this:

I'll keep you posted on how they end up finishing out with handles, but so far, I think that things are turning out to be just perfect. :)
